Fantastic Feasts and Where to Find Them
Looking for a fast, delicious, meal to satisfy the lunchtime hunger? My recommendation is to hit the streets and explore the wonderful variety of street food that Vancouver has to offer. Here are a few of my favourite food trucks in Vancouver and their most common locations. If you can’t wait to go find the truck nearest to you, download the app: Street Food Vancouver. That way you will always be sure to have up to date insider info.
Fat Duck Mobile Eatery:
This delicious rolling eatery is focused on bringing slow cooked deliciousness to fast food. Their Dirty Rice Bowl combines pieces of duck confit with pork belly, slaw and their signature mayo. Topped with a fried egg, I don’t think there could be anything better for a decadent but quick lunch.
Often Spotted: 11:30 AM – 2 PM on the corner of W Cordova and Howe street.
Since I’m originally from Surrey, I have a huge weakness for good Indian food. As I found out the hard way, this can be a tricky find in downtown Vancouver. Holi Masala has me covered, and then some, with their butter chicken and veggie pakoras that are to die for! I first discovered them at a local beer and wine festival and they’ve been one of my favs ever since.
Often Spotted: 11 AM – 2:30 PM on the corner of Georgia & Seymour.
Chick Pea Truck:
For those who love to enjoy meatless options, as well as vegan-friendly options, the smell of chickpea truck’s tasty options leaves my mouth watering every time I walk past. They feature a vegan menagerie of options including chickpea fries, falafel, and fried cauliflower wraps or salads. Each one can be drowned in the most delicious hummus and tahini sauces. You can satisfy your appetite and still feel good about a healthy choice here.
Often Spotted: 11 AM – 3 PM on W Cordova and Hornby
Mom’s Grilled Cheese:
Hands down the best grilled cheese in Vancouver! My favourite addition to these molten cheesy beauties is a cup of their homemade fire roasted tomato soup, topped with a dollop of basil mascarpone cheese. This truck is a cash-only establishment, but definitely don’t pass on this one!
Often Spotted: 11:30 AM – 3 PM on Howe St & Robson St right by the Vancouver Art Gallery
