Living in Vancouver is expensive, but one of the easiest ways you can eat out and keep the cost manageable is the beloved happy hour. Being a West Coast girl at heart, I am most partial to craft beer and Okanagan wines. Here are a couple of my favourite places with excellent, locally sourced, happy hour:

1.) Hapa Izakaya (Yaletown or Coal Harbour)

This funky Japanese tapas lounge has one of the best happy hours in the city as far as I’m concerned. They feature many of their delicious appetisers for much cheaper than the regular menu and have Red Truck Ale (one of my fav local breweries) on tap. I highly recommend the Ebi Mayo and am consistently blown away at how delicious it is!

2.) The Blind Sparrow (West End)

A recent discovery of mine, this quirky gastropub is quickly becoming one of my most frequented spots for happy hour. They feature their happy hour menu everyday 4-6pm so I will often stop by here after a walk around the seawall. Their food is lovely and unique, for example, the beet and avocado fries are simply delectable, and unlike anything, you have ever tasted. With live music every Sunday night and local beer on tap it’s perfect for an upbeat night out.

3.) Tap and Barrel (multiple locations)

Tap and Barrel is one of my favourite places to visit as Monday is all day happy hour! The potato bacon croquettes are beyond delicious and the house wine comes from the beautiful The Hatch in Kelowna! It’s not easy to make the trip up to Kelowna often, so it can be nice to find an Okanagan gem in the heart of Vancouver.
